About this project

The program aims at avoidance of fuel wood consumption by traditional stove users by disseminating clean cooking technologies such as biogas stoves in the rural households of Kenya at free of cost or at subsidized price. Implementation of biogas units for cooking needs will reduce the amount of fuel wood used for cooking and water heating and will replace inefficient traditional cooking stoves with cleaner biogas stoves. Hence, it will reduce CO2 emission from burning of non-renewable biomass for cooking and water heating. This technology will also reduce methane (CH4) emissions from cattle manure and will contribute strongly to the sustainable development of the rural households involved in the project. The overall objectives of the POA are reduction of greenhouse gases, conservation of forests and woodlands, as well as improved health conditions of end users due to improved indoor air quality.
