About this project

The project aims to target households that are using inefficient modes of cooking, with improved cookstoves through community engagement. The community will play a key role and the project will target different sustainable development goals that contribute to good health and wellbeing, among others. In the target areas, households often cook on a traditional ‘three-stone fire’ stove, which places high demands on wood; leading to deforestation, high CO2 emissions and adverse health effects on households. The purpose of the Project is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions at a household level and, with the introduced technology and reduced consumption of wood-fuel. Community members will build the improved cookstoves, with training provided by team members of the in-country partner. The stoves are made from materials that community members can contribute to (clay and brick) as well as a metallic part that provides significant increase in thermal efficiency.
