About this project

The main purpose of the Gold Standard Programme of Activities (PoA) is the distribution of fuel-efficient improved cook stoves (ICS) in Nigeria. The Improved cook-stove stove distributed through this project has replaced the low-efficient traditional cook-stove. Through this project, the distribution, and installation of high thermal efficient improved cook stoves (ICS) has been undertaken for households. The ICS burns non-renewable woody biomass and/or charcoal more efficiently thereby improving thermal energy transfer to pots, hence saving fuel wood and greenhouse gases. Not only will this halt the rapidly progressing deforestation but will also reduce health hazards from indoor air (smoke) pollution and women and children will have to spend less time collecting firewood.
