About this project

OffgridSun collaborates with World Food Programme and National Carbon Monitoring Centre under the Sokoine University of Agriculture to distribute 5,000 Jiko Rafiki cookstoves in 10 villages between Kasulu and Kibondo Districts, Kigoma Region. The area is impacted by the hosting of refugees from neighbouring countries, which put high pressure on the available forests for the competition between refugees and host communities for the access to fuelwood to cook. The cookstoves will be distributed to rural poor households in the host communities in the targeted villages. In these villages WFP is already working with food security projects.
