About this project

The Koalisation community based clean cooking program in Ndola aims to address the challenges associated with traditional charcoal usage in peri urban areas. The project focuses on promoting the adoption of improved cookstoves with a thermal efficiency of 71% as an alternative to traditional charcoal stoves. By introducing these clean cooking stoves, the project aims to achieve multiple benefits, including reducing the demand for charcoal, improving indoor air quality and so human health, and mitigating the negative environmental impacts associated with traditional cooking methods. The project will involve the distribution of 2.900 improved cookstoves to households in peri urban areas of Ndola. To enhance the engagement with the community, an info point was built within the compound, to support the distribution of clean cooking stoves and to establish training programs to educate and raise awareness among community members about the benefits of using improved cookstoves. A solar water tower was built to provide safe drinkable water to the community. Furthermore a fruit trees nursery was built to host more than 5.000 plants that once ready, will be planted in the beneficiarie's backyards to improve food security and boost up biodiversity.
