Ghana Household Carbon Reduction Programme (GHCRP)
Gold Standard · GS23257 · Ghana
About this project
The purpose of the proposed mitigation activity is to provide residential users (HH) with energy-efficient cooking technology i.e., tier 5 Improved Charcoal Stoves (ICS) and safe water drinking systems that reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the combustion of non-renewable woody biomass-based charcoal for cooking or boiling of water in Ghana. It also seeks to address water contamination issues, that heavily impact households, by providing a safe water source. Depending on the criticality of needs within the household, they will either be targeted with ICS or safe water drinking systems. The project will also provide financial savings for the HH, because of a reduction in charcoal consumption and will improve their health by reducing the exposure to indoor air pollution (IAP).
