About this project

The purpose of the VPA, “VPA 1 Safe Water Programme in Uganda”, is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions due to the practice of burning non-renewable biomass, such as firewood and charcoal, for water treatment (e.g., boiling). This will be achieved by implementing community-based safe drinking water treatment and supply technologies while promoting renewable energy solutions (water treatment and supply is done by solar power) in the host country, the Republic of Uganda. The PoA will help improve access to clean water in rural and urban areas. WMVI is the CME of this programme and will implement the project activity through the Water Mission. This Christian engineering non-profit builds safe water, sanitation, and hygiene solutions in developing countries and disaster areas. As well as potentially implementing through other implementation partners in Uganda. Water Mission Verified Impact (WMVI) is the Coordinating and Managing Entity (CME) of the PoA with the carbon Management partnership of PersistentClimate India Pvt Limited. To ensure access to the maximum number of communities, the programme will be implemented in collaboration with several partners, such as micro-entrepreneurs, NGOs, financial institutions, and local distribution partners.
