About this project

Azimayi Improved Cookstoves in the Republic of Malawi” is a large-scale project that aims to distribute energy-efficient improved cooking solutions (ICS) in domestic households and communities in the Republic of Malawi (project location), thereby replacing traditional inefficient cooking devices that utilize firewood as a primary cooking fuel in the baseline. Traditional cooking methods (use of inefficient, solid biomass cooking devices like 3-stone fires/ open fires and/or traditional solid fuel stoves) prevalent across the Republic of Malawi generate significant volumes of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions attributed to the inefficient combustion of unsustainably sourced, non-renewable biomass (NRB) fuel. The project activity includes the dissemination of project ICS to beneficiaries using traditional modes of cooking in the baseline. The project ICS employs natural draft technology to improve fuel combustion, aiding better heat transfer to the cooking pots.
