About this project

The "Idea Balance Safe Water Access Project" will be implemented on Zanzibar Island, part of the United Republic of Tanzania. The project focuses on rehabilitating non-functional boreholes that have not received maintenance from the government or any authorized entity. These efforts will be financed and coordinated by the IDEA Universal International Development and Environment Association (IDEA Universal), leveraging their extensive expertise in sustainable water access initiatives. This initiative aims to restore orphaned boreholes, identified based on household need and proximity to communities without alternative drinking water sources within a 1 km radius. By providing access to safe and clean drinking water, the project intends to reduce greenhouse gas emissions associated with boiling unsafe water and to decrease reliance on non-renewable biomass, mitigating environmental degradation and promoting sustainable resource use.
