About this project

The Programme of Activities (PoA) “TASC SOLUM - Sequestration and Optimised Landscapes Using Microbials” aims to improve the health of agricultural land in South Africa by using natural biostimulants to enhance soil carbon sequestration. TASC is including this Voluntary Project Activity within the PoA. The main goal of the project is to remove carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere and store it permanently in agricultural soils, which is good for the environment and can help reduce the effects of climate change by decreasing greenhouse gas emissions (GHG).Current intensive and high-input forms of agriculture are leading to biodiversity loss, soil erosion, poor water retention, decreased drought resilience, GHG emissions, decreased plant health and nutrition, and decreased soil health. Applying regenerative agricultural practices addresses these issues via several ways, including precision application of biological and chemical inputs, minimising soil disturbance, inter-cropping, cover cropping, and integrating livestock when possible. This project within the regenerative agriculture programme will focus on the precision application of biological and chemical inputs.
