Using the Mangrove Change page
Pick a country in the header, read the KPIs and charts, then scroll to the Africa-wide table.
- Choose the country with the globe button in the header (or click a country in the Africa table).
- Top tiles: area in the latest year, area in the first year, net change and the average per year.
- Area by year chart: Atlas' measurements for each mapped year (green), the authors' official figure (red dashed) and the previous version v3.0 (grey). Lines being parallel means the offset is constant.
- Net change between maps: bars show gains (green) and losses (red) between consecutive years.
- Every year 1985–2025: the official annual series.
- Year-by-year table, and the v3.0 table which also marks years that exist only in v3.
- All of Africa table: sort mentally by area or change; click a country to open its page.
Reading tips. Small changes (under 1–2%) are within mapping uncertainty. Net change can hide gains and losses.
