How to cite Atlas and its sources
Cite the original publisher and the version, then say the numbers were retrieved through Atlas.
Mangrove area, any African country
Global Mangrove Watch (2026). Global Mangrove Watch: Timeseries of Mangrove Extent, version 4.1.12. Zenodo, doi:10.5281/zenodo.21346456. Bunting et al. (2022), Remote Sensing 14(15):3657. Areas recalculated by Atlas (atlas.twende.green), retrieved [date].
Lamu layers
WWF Kenya, Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute, Kenya Forest Service (2019). Lamu Mangroves Species Formation. Archived copy via Atlas (atlas.twende.green), snapshot [date].
Atlas calculations (scenarios, rankings, hot spots): add "calculated with Atlas Blue Carbon Intelligence, atlas.twende.green, [date]" and state any assumptions used.
Good practice: quote the version, the year of the map, whether the area is Atlas-measured or an official statistic, and the date accessed.
