Known issues & assumptions

Stated plainly so nobody is surprised later
Field-plot canopy cover above 100%
One or more plots report a cover value over 100% (up to 6,070). That cannot be a percentage, so Atlas rejects the value, keeps the original and flags the plot.
Field-survey photos are not in the archive yet
The 139 plot photographs are not part of the archive yet. Their original links are kept, so the photos can be added when the publisher shares the image files.
No licence stated by the publisher
Atlas holds an archival copy for scientific and internal use and asks users to cite WWF Kenya, KMFRI and KFS. We are seeking written permission for wider redistribution.
Degree-based length and area fields excluded
Several source fields (st_area, st_length, Shape_Leng) are in degrees or square degrees, not metres or hectares. Atlas excludes them and recomputes from geometry.
Turtle timestamps assumed UTC
The source gives times without a time zone. UTC is assumed (standard for satellite telemetry) and the assumption is recorded with the data.
Unpopulated historic-area fields
The mangrove block layers carry 1990–2018 area fields that are all zero. They are treated as empty placeholders, not measurements.
