DATA GUIDE

For carbon and restoration project developers

Screen sites by area, trend, fragmentation and nearby pressure before investing in field work.

Step 1: Is there mangrove, and is it changing? Check area and trend for the country and compare with neighbours. Step 2: How intact is it? Fragmentation and patch-size classes show whether there are large stands to protect or small fragments to link. Step 3: What are the pressures? Where layers exist (Lamu), measure proximity to roads, ports and villages. Step 4: Rough carbon. Use the Scenario Lab for a range; plan field soil cores for real numbers. Step 5: Who is already there? The restoration module lists assessed sites and protection zones in Kenya. Step 6: Check the rules. Read the current standard's methodology (Verra, Gold Standard, Plan Vivo) and the national legal framework.

Limit. Atlas screens; it does not replace baselines, additionality tests or verification.
